Sustainability

Realizing the gravity of climate change consequences and acknowledging the role of financial sector in promoting the sustainability, we implement environmental, social, and governance principles in all aspects of our operations.

This approach enables us to build a sustainable financial culture, in which sustainability is the underlying base of every our activity.

We uphold and advance sustainable development of Latvian and Baltic economy by providing support to medium and large enterprises.

We take responsibility when handling the tasks of the financial sector, which are to further the sustainable environment and to raise the awareness of clients and business partners on importance of sustainable operations. These are pivotal to the successful growth of individual companies and the economy in general.

We have determined the priorities and strategic lines of sustainable development as well as their achievement milestones to maintain our commitment for sustainable operations.

We have identified nine major goals of sustainable development to which we can contribute most.

We actively engage in the programmes on evaluating sustainability and corporate responsibility of companies, including the following:

We gradually introduce the good governance principles in our sustainable operation model:

  • succession: adjusting the operations according to the Green Deal, the Paris Climate Agreement, and sustainable development objectives;
  • determining impact and targets: continuous increase of positive impact and reduction of negative impact;
  • clients: responsible and steady cooperation with clients on implementation of sustainable practices;
  • stakeholders: proactive and responsible collaboration in order to achieve the sustainability goals;
  • corporate governance: establishment of responsible corporate governance;
  • transparency and responsibility: consistent disclosure of implementation progress, positive and negative impacts.

In our operations, we strive to follow the three main aims set in the European Commission Action Plan: Financing Sustainable Growth:

  • reorient capital flows towards sustainable investment in order to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth;
  • manage financial risks stemming from climate change, resource depletion, environmental degradation and social issues;
  • foster transparency and long-termism in financial and economic activity.

Together with the stakeholders, we take the due care approach – we identify and assess possible negative impact, mitigate risks, monitor the progress, and ensure openness and information availability.

Our approach to sustainability is a commitment to act responsibly for a stable future. We generate a positive impact not only by excelling in our core business of providing lending and investment services, but also by learning from best practice and sharing our experience of achievements and challenges.

We believe that by engaging our clients and partners in reaching our sustainability objectives, we are jointly building the foundation for a future more resilient to sustainability-related risks.

Together, we can not only drive economic growth, but also create a fairer, more inclusive, greener world for ourselves and coming generations.
